Q. What makes your meals more suitable for a pregnant woman than other healthy meal plans that are currently available?

A. Pregnancy Chef meals have been developed with an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) to specifically to meet the nutritional needs of women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy. Our meals are tasty and nutrient dense, and exclude ingredients that are best avoided during pregnancy. For more information on foods to eat and avoid during pregnancy visit here.

Q. Is this meal safe for my dietary requirements?

A. We have taken the greatest care to create meals that are especially suited to the known nutritional needs of women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy. If you have any specific concerns or health needs, we recommend seeking advice from a health professional. A full list of ingredients can be found with each meal profile on our website and on our packaging.

Q. Where do I find the ingredient list and nutritional information?

A. Our ingredients and nutritional information for each product can be found on the relevant product page of our website. You can also locate this information on the back of each meal sleeve. Nutritional values are based on standard product formulation and average figures. There may be slight variations to nutrient values and serving sizes for each individual meal.

Q. Do your meals contain food additives or preservatives?

A. Our meals are made fresh and we don’t add any preservatives or food additives. While we make every effort to only use only fresh food products, a small number of our ingredients may already contain additives. If any additive is present, it will always be listed in the meal’s ingredient list.

Q. Do you cater for food allergies / food intolerances?

A.Our recipes have not been designed to cater for specific food allergies or intolerances. Several of our meals do contain allergens including peanuts, tree nuts, milk, egg, fish, shellfish, wheat, sesame and soy. We use a range of foods in our kitchen and, while we do our best to avoid cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee a total absence of any ingredient.

If you have food allergies or intolerances, we recommend you seek personal advice from a doctor or Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) in relation to your own health circumstances before consuming our meals.

Q. Do you offer vegetarian or vegan meals?

A. We currently provide several vegetarian and vegan friendly meals, and we plan to increase this range over time. You can find all our vegetarian and vegan meals here.

Q. Will I lose weight or gain weight eating Pregnancy Chef meals?

A. Pregnancy Chef meals have been designed to meet the energy and nutrition needs of women who are planning a pregnancy, pregnant or breastfeeding, they are not designed for weight gain or weight loss. If you are concerned about your body weight during your pregnancy, we recommend you seek personal advice from a doctor or Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) in relation to your own health circumstances before consuming our meals.

Q. Where do you source your ingredients?

A.We aim to source all of our meal ingredients from local Australian suppliers. However, a consistent supply of some ingredients throughout the year can be affected by a range of factors such as seasonal variation, drought, bushfire and flood. For this reason, some of our ingredients are sourced from food producers outside Australia from time to time.

Q. Who cooks your meals?

A. All Pregnancy Chef meals are prepared and cooked in a commercial kitchen in Sydney which specialises in pre-cooked meals. Our kitchen is passionate about combining the freshest ingredients with the latest cooking techniques and employs the highest standards of food hygiene to create quality meals. Our kitchen is HACCP Certified. HACCP (which stands for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) is an internationally recognised system for reducing the risk of safety hazards in food.

Q. Who develops your recipes?

A.We’ve worked closely with an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), renowned chef David Bitton, and our own kitchen team to develop recipes which will satisfy your taste buds and also meet your nutritional needs for preconception, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Q. What size are your meals? Are they single serve?

A. Each meal is a single serve (330 grams) and packed full of nutritional goodness for mums who are preparing for pregnancy, currently pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Q. How long can Pregnancy Chef meals be kept?

A. If kept frozen from the time of arrival at your house, our meals can be kept in your freezer for up to 6 months from the batch date found on the clear film on top of the tray.

Q. How do I store Pregnancy Chef meals?

A. Store your meals in the freezer at or below -18°C for up to 6 months from production date. Once you remove a meal from the freezer, the unopened product can stay in the fridge safely for 2 days. Do not refreeze.

Q. How do I cook Pregnancy Chef meals?


  • To achieve maximum flavour completely defrost this product for a minimum of 12 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
  • Keep chilled in the refrigerator at or below 5°C.
  • Can stay in fridge unopened for 2 days and eaten safely. Do not refreeze.


  • Remove sleeve from tray. Pierce film once. Place tray onto a microwave safe plate.
  • Heat on HIGH for 2-3 minutes or until heated through.
  • Take out of microwave, allow to stand for 1 minute then carefully remove film completely.
  • Season to taste. Plate up and enjoy your beautiful meal.


  • Preheat oven to 200°C (conventional) or 180°C (fan forced).
  • Remove meal from tray entirely.
  • Place in oven proof dish and cover with foil.

Please take care as the tray and meal will be very hot. Cooking instructions are provided as a guide only – microwave oven time and temperature may vary depending on model.

Q. Why are your meals frozen and not fresh?

A. Freezing a pre-cooked meal increases its storage life, preserves most nutrients and is a natural way to keep food safe without the need to add chemical preservatives. Food safety is particularly important during pregnancy and providing our meals frozen is the best way to ensure you receive a safe product. Having a selection of frozen meals on hand also means you can pick and choose what you feel like eating at each meal – something that can help when you are experiencing nausea or taste changes due to morning sickness.

Q. Is there a minimum order quantity?

A. Yes, we have a minimum order of 5 meals per order.

Q. Do your meals change?

A. We are continually designing and testing new recipes so we can bring you a wide range of meals to choose from. While we are starting with a small range of meals, we will be adding more soon, and plan to have a range of seasonal meals for Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer.

Q. Are your meals suitable if I have gestational diabetes?

A. Our meals have been designed with the help of an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), keeping the needs of women with gestational diabetes in mind. Meals are low in saturated fat, have a balance of protein and carbohydrate and use lower glycaemic index (GI) ingredients where possible. However, we recommend that you seek personal advice from an APD in relation to your specific nutritional needs before consuming our meals. Q. Do you offer breakfast or snacks?

A. Pregnancy Chef only caters for lunch and dinner.

Q. Do you have to be pregnant to eat Pregnancy Chef meals?

A. While Pregnancy Chef meals are especially designed for women who are planning to become pregnant, pregnant or breast feeding, they are a healthy option for the whole family. We’re here to provide a nutritious option that takes the stress out of mealtimes.

Q. What if I want extra meals for my partner and/or children

A.While Pregnancy Chef meals are especially designed for women who are planning to become pregnant, pregnant or breast feeding, they are a health option for the while family. We will provide as many meals as you would like to order.

Q. Are your meals high in salt?

A. Most of our meals are low in salt (aside from our Stir Fry Duck and Tofu, Poached Chicken with Spinach, Olives and a Carrot and Ginger Mash, Green Curry Fish with Brown Basmati Rice and Snow Peas and Slow Cooked Lamb Shank with Vegetable Couscous).

Ordering, Shipping & Delivery

Q. Can I buy your meals from a store?

A. No, Pregnancy Chef is a meal delivery service only.

Q. Am I able to cancel my order?

A.You can cancel an order 48hrs before your “Next payment date”, which you can find under “My Subscription” when you log into your online account.

Q. How do I cancel my subscription?

A.Our subscriptions are flexible, with no minimum term or lock-in plans. Change or cancel your subscription any time by logging into your online account or contacting us at eat@pregnancychef.com.au.

Q. Where do you deliver?

A. We deliver to New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland metropolitan regions of Australia. You can find out whether we deliver to your postcode by using the postcode search on our website.

Q. Can I order delivery to a non-residential address?

A. We deliver to residential addresses only, and don’t deliver to drop off locations.

Q. What happens if I miss the order cut off time?

A.Our system will automatically carry your delivery date forward to the next delivery day. Remember to confirm your delivery date before checkout – your delivery date will also appear in your confirmation email. If you have any questions about your order, contact us via eat@pregnancychef.com.au.

Q. I’m based in a non-delivery qualified suburb, can I still order Pregnancy Chef?

A. Unfortunately, we are not able to deliver to all suburbs at the moment, but we’re constantly looking for new areas to expand, according to demand. We’ll keep you updated on new locations via Facebook and our newsletter – sign-up and stay in the loop.

Q. Do you do same day delivery?

A. No, given the nature of our service this is not possible. Once you confirm your order, you can expect to receive it in 2 to 4 days depending on where you live. For full delivery timetables, please click here.

Q. How much is delivery?

A. $15.00 up to 2 boxes delivered, thereafter $5 per box.

Q. What if I’m not home to receive my delivery?

A.You will be able to check whether you would like your delivery left unattended. If this option is selected, your delivery will be left in a safe place for you to collect when you return home.

Q. Will I know exactly what time my order will be delivered?

A. Yes, you will receive text message and email updates about your delivery window.

Q. Will you deliver to a secured apartment block?

A. Yes please provide delivery instructions for your driver so they know exactly where to leave your precious package.

Q. Can I order on behalf of someone else, who lives at a different address to me?

A. Yes.

Q. How do you ensure food stays fresh - and frozen - during delivery?

A. Our products are packaged in Chilltainers which are fully recyclable, durable and environmentally sustainable. We combine the Chilltainers with cold packs to maintain the required temperature while in transit, and meals should be put in the freezer/freezer immediately upon receipt.

Our containers and ice packs can only do so much, these aren’t eski’s and our food is not designed to be delivered if you are out all day. It is your responsibility to choose a delivery window based on your availability at your nominated address. If you select the midnight to 7am delivery time slot we do not recommend you leave the box outside for the entire 7 hours.

Payment & Pricing

Q. How can I pay for my order?

A. Credit Card – Mastercard or Visa; Debit Cards – Mastercard or Visa.

Q. What if my payment is declined?

A. Your order will not be processed until payment is completed.

Q. How much does Pregnancy Chef cost?

A. Our meals are no more than $16.35, depending on whether you order a Chef’s Selection or which Build Your Own options you choose. With our Build Your Own option, you can choose to order 5 meals ($81.75), 10 meals ($145.00), 14 meals ($192.30) or our family subscription of 21 meals ($273.15).


Q. Do you offer gift cards?

A. We don’t currently offer gift cards.

Q. Is your packaging environmentally friendly?

A.Our packaging is designed to ensure your meals are delivered in a safe and convenient format to maximise food safety, and facilitate easy fridge storage and re-heating. However, we’re always looking for new ways to improve our packaging to be as environmentally friendly as possible, without compromising on food safety, and will update our packaging as opportunities arise.
